The hymn Panis Angelicus was made famous in César Franck's composition Messe à trois voix Opus 12 written in 1872. The text of the hymn was based upon the Sacris Solemniis written by Saint Thomas Aquinas for the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264. The Sacris Solemniis included seven stanzas, but Franck only used the pivotal sixth stanza and the doxology in the seventh stanza in his mass.

Bread of the World in Mercy Broken was recorded during a Lenten service in 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Oviedo. The song was composed by Peter Aston based upon the hymn written by Reginald Heber.
